Champagne, White or Red?

The following wines are now on offer on selected flights in First or Business Class:

First Class

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, Champagne, France, 2007

This great 2007 vintage lives up to all expectations as soon as you open the bottle. Fine and delicate nose with white blossom, minerality, Anjou pear and golden raisins. The taste is vibrant, with a combination of lemon and saltiness. Followed by a sensation of complex, yet mellow freshness creating the perfect balance between ripeness and a full-rounded flavour. It is rounded off by a long-lasting, crisp finish with hints of salted butter.

Olivier Leflaive Saint-Aubin 1er Cru 2013

Ropiteau Frères Meursault, Burgundy, France, 2017

Meursault is an appellation south of Beaune, between Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet. Bright golden-green colour, a nose of great finesse with aromas of lime, hawthorn and butter notes, hazelnuts and honey. Magical balance between smoothness and freshness, with an impressive length.

Chateau Lynch Bages 2008

Chateau Lynch-Bages, Pauillac, Bordeaux, 2008

Château Lynch-Bages is a fifth growth as deemed by the Bordeaux Classification of 1855, that has been considered very superior to its ranking. Situated on the outskirts of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, its 100 hectares of vines are planted on deep gravel soils.

The vintage 2008 displays nice aromas of cranberry, dried floral notes, and tobacco. Its excellent tannin structure is underlined by intensity, depth, and structure.

Barone Ricasoli Colledilà Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2012

Business Class

Château Macard, Bordeaux, France, 2015

This charming small estate situated close to Saint-Emilion is owned by the Aubert Family, also owner of one the most prestigious Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. ‘A smokey meaty Bordeaux, with juicy blackberry, black cherry and dark currant fruit. Supple, fine-grained tannins, bright acidity and a fine dry finish with a cigar-scented flourish.’ Debra Meiburg MW.

Louis Latour Macon-Lugny “Les Genievres” 2016

Cave d’Azé Mäcon Villages Clocher, Burgundy, France, 2017

Mâconnais is the most southerly terroir of the Burgundy winegrowing region and benefits from warmer climate. Intense and subtle nose of mango, pineapple, hazelnut and grilled almond. The palate is fresh and elegant with notes of citrus and white fruits. Well balanced with a lasting minerality.

Stellenrust Douwe Steyn Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Catena Zapata Appellation Agrelo Cabernet Sauvignon, Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina, 2016

Owned by Nicolás Catena and his daughter Laura, Bodega Catena Zapata is known as the pioneer of fine wine from Argentina. ‘Plush, ripe and generous dark fruist from this "first family" of Argentina. The Agrelo's succulent, silky palate delivers rich layers of spicy oak-accented fruit with a clean, powdery finish.’ Debra Meiburg MW.
