There are exceptions for camera equipment, household effects, sporting equipment, musical instruments, travelling with pets, mobility aids, medical equipment and diplomatic baggage.

Simply subtract the weight of your free luggage allowance from the weight of your bag. The remaining difference will be charged per kilogram.
If you’re travelling with multiple bags, their combined weight makes up your luggage allowance.
Please note that the weight of any single bag must not be over 32kg / 70 lbs, and its total dimension (the sum of its width, height and length) must not exceed 203cm / 80in in length without prior approval from Cathay Pacific. This is because our team will need to take special precautions to move an item this heavy.
Overweight and/or oversized items must be repacked or split into lighter, smaller units.
If your flight route measures bags by piece, any extra piece that results from the repacking will be charged.
If your flight route measures bags by weight, any single bag weighing more than 32kg has to be split into lighter units. The extra weight will be charged by the kilogram.
Please contact your local reservation office at least 3 working days if your bag cannot be split and you need to travel with a bag this large.
